A tough run of form

The New York Jets are searching for their identity after a difficult start to the season. After a dominant win against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, the team has lost three straight games to sit at 1-3. Center Josh Myers admitted that the three losses are tough to stomach, but he insists the team will win games. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson added that the biggest part of their season is starting now.

The pressure is growing on coach Aaron Glenn. Under his leadership, the Jets have lost 17 of their last 21 games. This is the second worst start for any coach in franchise history after 21 games. Only Rich Kotite had a worse record when he coached the team in 1995 and 1996. Glenn, who once played for the Jets, needs to find answers quickly as the fanbase turns on him.

Defensive and offensive struggles

The defense has regressed over the last six quarters, giving up 44 points and 727 total yards. The pass rush has disappeared, with the front four recording zero sacks over the last two games. This is despite heavy investments in the defensive line, including drafting David Bailey, trading for nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat, and signing Joseph Ossai to a 34.5 million dollar contract.

Things are also difficult on offense. The running game has sputtered since Breece Hall ran for 102 yards in the opening game. Hall missed the last game with a quadriceps injury, and the Jets managed only 59 rushing yards in their 23-12 loss to the Chicago Bears. During that game, the Bears held the ball for over 42 minutes. Chicago linebacker Devin Bush even told reporters it was one of the easiest games he has played.
