Boos echo in the Superdome

New Orleans quarterback Tyler Shough understood the frustration from the stands after his team suffered a 45-24 loss against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. Boos rained down several times during the blowout, including at halftime and at the final whistle. Fans left in droves before the fourth quarter ended, leaving only supporters of the visiting team in the stands.

Fans understandably are upset, according to Shough. He noted that the team failed to take advantage of opportunities against a rival, adding that he would also boo after such a performance.

A tough night for a milestone celebration

The home team entered the primetime fixture with high emotion. The franchise celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the return to the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina. Former safety Steve Gleason, legendary quarterback Drew Brees, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell were among those in attendance.

That celebratory mood faded quickly when the hosts fell behind 24-7 by halftime. Defensive end Cameron Jordan remarked that the group got punched in the mouth early and that opponents rushed for 205 yards and five touchdowns.
