Baleba back on the grass
Manchester United midfielder Carlos Baleba is getting closer to making his debut for the club. The 22 year old summer signing has returned to training on the grass at Carrington after suffering an injury during preseason.
United spent 70 million pounds, which is about 94.3 million dollars, to sign the Cameroon international from Brighton. He has yet to play a single minute for his new club but his return to the training pitch is positive news for the team.
Carrick expects quick return
Manager Michael Carrick is hopeful that the midfielder will be ready to feature soon. Carrick expects Baleba to be available after the upcoming international break. Carrick said that Baleba will be back in the group over the next week or so, meaning he should be in good shape after the internationals.
The manager added that Baleba arrived with an injury but is desperate to train fully with the squad. Carrick described him as a quality player who balances the midfield dynamics well. The manager is looking forward to getting his marquee signing into the team.
Brighton clash comes too soon
This news comes at a busy time for United. The team is trying to move on after a derby loss. Carrick called on his squad to move past that defeat, which featured a goal from Erling Haaland that Carrick called an injustice. The VAR referee from that derby has not been given a Premier League game for the upcoming weekend.
United now face Baleba's former club Brighton at Old Trafford on Wednesday. This Carabao Cup third round fixture will come too soon for the midfielder. United will have to wait a bit longer to see their big summer signing on the pitch.
