New Faces in Minnesota

The Minnesota Timberwolves overhauled their roster during the summer by bringing in LaMelo Ball to bolster the backcourt alongside Anthony Edwards. The moves made the team smaller after trading Julius Randle and Naz Reid, but the front office also made the roster younger. Jonathan Kuminga and Ayo Dosunmu are expected to play key roles while fitting in with Edwards. The team hopes the gamble will help them compete with the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, who knocked out the Wolves in back-to-back playoffs.

Building Chemistry

The organization hopes Ball can lessen Edwards' ballhandling duties while bringing energy and joy to a team that often lacked both in recent years. Coach Chris Finch noted the team traded moodiness for giddiness. Edwards hosted Ball at his home in Minneapolis, and the two began working out together in July. They also led a player trip to Paris where fourteen players attended a workout and a boat tour. Rudy Gobert praised the vibes and said the team cares about one another.
