Milwaukee Brewers Set New Franchise Record With 98th Win

The Milwaukee Brewers have set a new franchise record by securing their 98th win of the season. They beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-0 on Sunday night to improve their record to 98-58, breaking the previous wins record they set last season.

This historic milestone comes despite the team not having a winning streak longer than five games all year. Manager Pat Murphy admitted that they have not had long streaks of greatness or put everything together yet, but they still hold the best record in the majors.

Team Effort Seals the Record

The record breaking victory was a true team effort. Seven different pitchers combined to deliver a four hit shutout. Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski started the game, giving up just one hit and striking out four over three innings.

Misiorowski, who is now 15-5 with a 1.86 ERA, had his workload managed with an abbreviated start. He said setting a franchise record is a big deal and hopes the team can get a few more wins before the season ends.

The defense also stepped up. Center fielder Garrett Mitchell made a brilliant diving catch in the seventh inning, and the team stole four bases to complete their ninth series sweep of the year.

Looking Ahead to the Postseason

Milwaukee has already clinched its fourth consecutive NL Central title. This will be their eighth postseason appearance in nine years. However, the team has not reached the World Series since 1982.

The Brewers are currently two games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in the National League. They need just one more win, or a loss by Atlanta, to secure a bye straight into the division series.

Murphy praised his players, noting that they are not the oldest, most experienced, or most talented team, but they have proven they work together as a true team.
