Early Drama In Milwaukee
The Milwaukee Brewers staged another comeback on Saturday night, fighting back from a four run deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4. The victory gives Milwaukee a 2-0 lead in the World Series.
The Rays got off to a fast start in the first inning against Milwaukee rookie pitcher Logan Henderson, scoring four early runs to take a 4-0 lead. Tampa Bay had lost Friday's opener 3-2 and looked eager to bounce back. However, the Brewers began to claw back immediately in the bottom half of the first inning, scoring two runs against Tampa Bay ace Drew Rasmussen.
Frelick And Pratt Lead The Rally
Milwaukee kept working away at the lead as the game went on. Sal Frelick tied the score with his first home run in three months. Later in the match, Cooper Pratt hit a go-ahead single in the seventh inning to put the Brewers ahead for the first time on the night.
This result marked the seventh comeback victory for Milwaukee in this postseason. It was also the second time in the playoffs that the Brewers recovered after falling behind by four runs. Milwaukee previously came back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in Game 4 of the NL Championship Series, which completed a four game sweep.
Defensive Troubles For The Rays
Tampa Bay won the AL pennant by forcing opponents into making mistakes, but they suffered from their own defensive issues on Saturday night. The Rays committed one error and had two other misplays that could have been charged as errors. Tampa Bay also had a runner thrown out at the plate during the contest.
With two victories now secured at home, Milwaukee holds a 2-0 advantage in the series as the teams prepare for the upcoming games.
