A Historic Championship Run

The Milwaukee Brewers proved to be the best team in Major League Baseball all season long. They capped off their stellar campaign by beating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games during the 123rd World Series.

Only one team scored more runs during the regular season. The Brewers ranked first in walk rate and led the majors in batting average and on base percentage. On the defensive side, they finished second in team earned run average and strikeout rate.

Overcoming Past Obstacles

Milwaukee had reached the postseason in previous eras, including a pennant in 1982 led by Hall of Famers Robin Yount and Paul Molitor. However, the franchise had never broken the ceiling to win a World Series until now.

This year, the Brewers defeated the San Diego Padres in four games and swept the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Christian Yelich noted before the series that facing the Dodgers was the standard the team had to clear.

Smart Management and Sustained Success

Since owner Mark Attanasio purchased the team in 2005, the Brewers have grown into a consistently successful franchise. Playing in the sport's smallest market by population, the team relies on disciplined payroll spending and strong internal leadership.

Under baseball operations leader Matt Arnold, the club has focused heavily on scouting, player development, and analytics. Young talents like Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, and rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt form a core that is built to last for years to come.
