Arteta Stands By The League
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists that the Premier League remains the best competition in the world. This comes despite Manchester City facing a guilty verdict on breaching financial regulations.
City are currently appealing against the findings of an Independent Commission. The commission found that the club broke 114 rules over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018. If the appeal fails, City could face a fine or even expulsion from the league.
Refusing To Judge The Case
Arteta previously spent three years working under Pep Guardiola at City before taking the Arsenal job. When asked about the ongoing situation on Friday, the Arsenal boss chose to sidestep multiple questions.
He stated that the process is still ongoing and not resolved. He added that a much clearer opinion can be formed once everything is finished. He also mentioned that he respects the ongoing legal process and understands the noise surrounding the case.
Praise For Competition
Arteta highlighted how other clubs manage their resources in an intelligent way. He noted that teams like Brentford, Brighton, and Leeds thrive because of this efficient management.
He feels privileged to work in the English top flight. He also pointed out that increased competition is a good thing for everyone involved.
