Waiting on Evans
San Francisco wide receiver Mike Evans is questionable for Sunday and will be a gametime decision against the Denver Broncos, according to coach Kyle Shanahan. Evans was a limited participant in Friday practice after missing Wednesday and Thursday sessions. He suffered the injury in the first half of last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
Evans spoke to reporters on Friday for the first time since the incident. While running a route, he turned and felt a sharp pain in his chest area. He left the game on a cart and went to the locker room.
Pushing to play
Despite the pain, Evans intends to try and play. He stated that it is his job and he takes pride in suiting up whenever possible. He mentioned that he does not plan to use a traditional flak jacket, preferring a compression shirt with built in padding instead.
Coach Kyle Shanahan offered some hope that Evans will suit up, noting the player's toughness. Meanwhile, the team ruled out defensive end Nick Bosa with a calf injury, defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. with an ankle injury, and defensive lineman Mykel Williams with a knee injury. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw and defensive lineman Keion White are also questionable.
