Humphrey speaks out on Jackson treatment
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey expressed his frustration on Thursday regarding what he described as slander against quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Jackson missed the team's last two games after spraining his left ankle 18 days ago. When reporters asked Humphrey how Jackson looked during Thursday's practice, the cornerback voiced his anger over the criticism aimed at the star player.
Humphrey stated that Jackson seems to be the only quarterback who receives that level of negative coverage whenever anything happens. He noted that other players do not face similar articles. He also questioned whether the lack of an agent makes it harder for people to defend Jackson.
Humphrey made it clear that Jackson wants to be on the field. He explained that if Jackson is healthy enough to play, he will play. He added that the team has backup Tyler Huntley ready if Jackson cannot go.
Jackson makes progress in practice
Jackson moved around well during Thursday's session in Owings Mills, Maryland. He participated in every drill during the media viewing portion of practice. For the second straight day, he was listed as a limited participant.
Having Jackson available against the Cincinnati Bengals would be a huge boost for Baltimore. Jackson has a strong career record against the Bengals, going 11-2 against them. In those matches, he has thrown 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.
When asked to clarify his comments about the slander, Humphrey chose not to give further details. He simply said that whatever he said is whatever he said, and people could take it however they want.
