Manager speaks out

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca says he trusts the club completely. This is his first interview since Manchester City were found guilty of breaking financial rules. Maresca spoke to in-house media on Thursday.

He is preparing his players for the trip to Liverpool on Sunday. This is City's first game since the publication of the judgement in their case with the Premier League. Maresca is due to hold his first news conference with reporters on Friday morning.

Calm in the camp

Maresca says he is very calm personally. The club has been quite clear, and everyone trusts the club completely. He acknowledges the noise surrounding the situation, but states the team focuses only on what they can control, which is the football side.

Chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak and CEO Ferran Soriano insist the club are innocent despite the guilty verdict. A formal appeal has already been launched.

Focus on the pitch

Most players spent the international break away from the training ground. Now they are back at the CFA, and Maresca insists they are focused despite the intense spotlight at the Etihad Stadium.

Maresca describes the feeling as fantastic. He says the players are excited for the next two games because the team is currently top of the league. They are not worried about other things and want to beat Liverpool at Anfield.
