A stunning European comeback

Manchester United produced a famous European fightback on Tuesday by defeating AS Roma 3-2 in the Champions League. Things looked bleak early on as United fell 2-0 behind after just 17 minutes. The home side headed toward a fifth defeat in six games, putting immense pressure on manager Michael Carrick.

Bruno Fernandes triggered the second-half recovery by scoring a re-taken penalty. Matheus Cunha then scored twice in the final 10 minutes to seal United's first win in any competition since September 10, boosting Carrick's hopes of keeping his job.

Heroics and a costly red card

Matheus Cunha proved to be the match-winner with his two goals, but his night ended on a sour note. After scoring his second, he celebrated by jumping into the supporters and received a yellow card. The Brazil forward then received a second yellow in stoppage time for a foul on Leonardo Balerdi and was sent off.

Nineteen-year-old winger Shea Lacey also made a big impact after coming on in the 75th minute. He played a key role in the winning goal by sliding a pass into Cunha, who scored from a tight angle.

Injuries and ongoing fan protests

The victory came with a setback as midfielder Carlos Baleba limped off with a hamstring injury early in the second half. United are already without Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw, making squad depth a major concern for the upcoming matches against Aston Villa and Liverpool.

Meanwhile, fan protests continued at Old Trafford. Supporters in the Stretford End released hundreds of green and gold balloons before kickoff and threw tennis balls on the pitch to express their anger at the owners and the board.
