Stepping up as a leader
Before the Miami Dolphins played their first game at Hard Rock Stadium, quarterback Malik Willis spoke directly to his offensive teammates. He told them to take pride in their work and treat every play seriously. The team signed Willis to a three year contract in free agency because they wanted a player to build their future around. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan traded wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to acquire extra draft picks so the team could add young players around Willis.
Learning from a tough start
Willis started his career with the Tennessee Titans, but his early years did not go well. He realized he could not rely only on his natural athletic ability. During the offseason, he worked with private coaches to improve his throwing mechanics and lower body usage. After spending time with the Green Bay Packers, he earned the starting job in Miami and now leads the youngest offense in the NFL.
