Salvador Perez Breaks Royals Record

The 2026 Major League Baseball season has brought a major change to the record books in Kansas City. On July 25, Salvador Perez hit his 318th career home run to pass George Brett on the franchise list. Perez has since extended his club record to 322 home runs.

This achievement puts Perez among an elite group of players who hold the home run records for their respective teams. For fans who follow baseball history, these milestones show the incredible longevity required to become a franchise legend.

Aaron and Ruth Lead the Historic Giants

No player in the history of Major League Baseball has hit more home runs for a single team than Hank Aaron. He hit 733 home runs during his legendary career with the Braves.

Other historic franchises also have massive numbers at the top of their lists. Babe Ruth leads the New York Yankees with 659 home runs. Willie Mays holds the record for the San Francisco Giants with 646 home runs, while Harmon Killebrew leads the Minnesota Twins with 559. Mike Schmidt holds the Philadelphia Phillies record with 548 home runs, and Sammy Sosa leads the Chicago Cubs with 545.

Active Stars Making Their Mark

Perez is not the only active player leading his current team in career home runs. Several other modern stars have already claimed the top spot for their franchises.

Mike Trout leads the Los Angeles Angels with 425 home runs. In New York, Pete Alonso has hit 264 home runs to lead the Mets. Manny Machado is the top home run hitter for the San Diego Padres with 221.

These active players are still adding to their totals. Other team leaders from recent eras include Ken Griffey Jr. with 417 home runs for the Seattle Mariners, and Giancarlo Stanton who hit 267 home runs for the Miami Marlins.
