Big Win in Sacramento

Luka Doncic led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 116-103 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. He finished the game with 40 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. This win moves the Lakers to a 7-2 record for the season, while the Kings fall to 1-7.

Doncic took control of the game early. In the second quarter, he hit four jumpers from long range, including shots from 27, 29, and 30 feet. This 11-2 personal run helped the Lakers build a lead that grew as high as 18 points. By halftime, he already had 23 points.

Joining Lakers Royalty

This performance marks the sixth game in a row where Doncic has scored at least 35 points. By doing this, he joins Kobe Bryant and Elgin Baylor as the only players in Lakers history to achieve such a streak. He also became the first player in NBA history to record six straight games with at least 35 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five made three pointers.

Coach JJ Redick praised his star player, saying this is probably the hottest stretch of basketball he can remember from Doncic. Redick compared it to March of last season when Doncic averaged 37.5 points over 16 games. During that time, he had a 60 point game against Miami after arriving in the city at 4 a.m.

Breaking NBA Records

Doncic has been particularly strong in the opening halves of his recent games. He has now scored 20 or more points in the first half of six consecutive matches. In the last 30 seasons, only Allen Iverson and Doncic himself have managed to put together such a first half scoring streak.

His recent scoring totals show just how dominant he has been. The run started with 52 points against the Utah Jazz on October 25. Since then, he has recorded scores of 41, 37, 45, 42, and 40. This consistency has helped the Lakers stay near the top of the standings early in the season.

High Praise from the Team

The rest of the Lakers roster is feeding off the energy Doncic provides. Center Walker Kessler described the current form of his teammate as a wave or a tsunami. Kessler noted that because Doncic is scoring so well, the rest of the team is just surfing the wave with him.

Doncic remains modest about his current form. When asked if he has ever played better, he said he has had some good stretches in his career and this could be one of the highest. However, he added that there is still some work to do as the season progresses.
