Season over for key winger
Paris Saint Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The 25 year old suffered the damage during PSG's 4-2 victory over Barcelona.
The Georgian international has been a major figure for the French side over recent years. He helped guide the club to back to back Champions League titles and his absence will be a huge test for Les Parisiens going forward.
Luis Enrique backs Kvaratskhelia
Manager Luis Enrique admitted that the club feared the worst immediately after the match. Even so, he urged everyone to look for the positives and stay supportive during a difficult time for the winger.
Enrique described Kvaratskhelia as a fighter who will continue to be a very important player for the team. He stressed that players competing at the top level for a decade or more will inevitably face injuries. He added that PSG will not rush into the market for a new signing because the squad can handle injuries.
Focus turns to Lyon match
PSG are preparing to host Paulo Fonseca's Olympique Lyonnais at the Parc des Princes on Monday. The team is chasing a fifth straight victory as they try to move up the league table.
Lyon beat PSG 2-1 in April during their last meeting at the Parc des Princes. Enrique mentioned that previous defeat gives his side extra motivation. Three or four weeks ago PSG were well behind the league leaders, but they now have an opportunity to move to the top spot.
