Ballon d'Or talk and squad fitness
Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique spoke out about Vitinha after the midfielder finished 14th in the recent Ballon d'Or rankings. Enrique stated that it is a real pleasure to have a player with such technical and physical ability, and added that his level is incredible. Enrique noted that Vitinha was not ranked as highly as he deserves to be.
The club was named Men's Club of the Year at the ceremony, with 10 players among the 30 nominees for the men's award. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia finished sixth, Ousmane Dembélé seventh, Nuno Mendes 23rd, and Marquinhos 25th. However, several of these stars are currently out of action. Kvaratskhelia underwent surgery in Qatar on a torn anterior cruciate ligament this week, while Dembélé, Mendes, and Marquinhos continue their rehabilitation for injuries.
Enrique addressed the injury situation, explaining that the issue has been a major focus of their work in recent years. He mentioned that some players suffer injuries more frequently than others, making it difficult to control. The team aims to refine and optimise the training load to minimise the number of injured players, though Enrique acknowledged that injuries remain part and parcel of top-flight football.
Focus shifts to Le Havre clash
PSG return to action on Friday evening as they travel to face rock-bottom Le Havre at the Stade Océane. The visitors sit top of Ligue 1 following last weekend's 2-0 win against Lyon, and they are seeking a ninth straight win in all competitions.
Enrique warned his players against complacency when facing the winless side. He stated that every time they have faced teams considered to be weaker, they have had problems. Even though PSG are top and Le Havre are bottom, the Spanish manager expects difficult moments to manage during the match.
Le Havre can cause problems with their centre-forward and their wingers, according to the PSG boss. He pointed out that they are one of the teams in Ligue 1 that put in the most crosses, meaning the visitors must show they are ready to overcome those threats.
