Injury Concerns for Liverpool

Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has cast doubt on the chances of Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo being fit to face Manchester City this weekend. The pair both returned home early from international duty with Sweden and the Netherlands due to thigh and ankle problems, respectively.

Having inherited Hugo Ekitike's long-term Achilles injury, Iraola could be without his two senior forwards for Sunday's clash. Iraola told beIN SPORTS that both players had to leave their national teams with injuries and it is a matter of whether they will recover in time to help the team in the next game.

Preparation for a Tough Test

The visit of City is the biggest game of Iraola's Liverpool career so far. Despite four wins and three draws, his side have struggled to find their best form.

Iraola noted that City have won all of their matches and are scoring many goals lately. He stated that his team needs to be very good to win. Meanwhile, center back Jérémy Jacquet was omitted from France's 4-1 victory over Belgium with a hamstring strain.
