The debut
LeBron James made his much anticipated home debut for the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night. A sellout crowd of 19,746 fans packed the arena for the final preseason game against the Boston Celtics. James performed his famed chalk toss and received a roaring ovation during player introductions.
Fans had been waiting to catch a glimpse of James in his number 23 jersey since he signed with the team in July. Children crowded over the home team entrance canopy to scream for pictures and autographs as he took to the floor.
On the court
The highlight of the night came when Tyrese Maxey lobbed a half court pass toward James, who caught the ball and threw down a two handed dunk that sent the crowd into a frenzy. James finished the game with eight points and eight rebounds.
Jaylen Brown also made his first appearance against his former team since being traded to Philadelphia. The Celtics ultimately won the game 125-120 in overtime, but the night belonged to the new look Sixers and their veteran star.
