Hope For Baltimore Quarterback

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has informed his teammates that he intends to return to the field later this season. The announcement came within 24 hours of Jackson suffering a fractured and dislocated right thumb.

Jackson underwent surgery to repair the damage on his throwing hand and was placed on injured reserve. Teammates originally feared the quarterback would miss the rest of the year. Jackson told the squad to stay alive while he recovers. His message gave the locker room an exciting boost during a difficult period.

Recovery Timeline And Upcoming Schedule

Recovery from this thumb injury usually takes between six and nine weeks. If his recovery moves along well, Jackson could be back on the field by early January. That timeline gives Baltimore hope if they can stay in contention over the coming weeks.

The Ravens currently have four wins and five losses, with a bye week coming in Week 13. Jackson suffered the thumb injury on his first snap against the Buffalo Bills. He had already missed three games before that with a high ankle sprain. Baltimore faces the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 27, followed four days later by a Thursday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Their regular season ends at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Brissett Arrives As Ravens Search For Stability

Baltimore traded for quarterback Jacoby Brissett on Friday to help steady the offense. Brissett is set to start on Monday night, Nov. 16, against the Los Angeles Chargers. The trade shows the team is still pushing to win despite Jackson being sidelined.

The move was necessary because backup quarterback Tyler Huntley is also out. Huntley went on injured reserve with a toe injury and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano was forced to start in a 33-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ravens Hit Historic Low Point

The 33-10 defeat was Baltimore's fourth loss in a row. The team has been held under 14 points in four straight games, setting a franchise record for low scoring.

The recent performances have been historically poor for the organization. The Ravens have now lost three straight games by 20 points or more for the first time in their 31 year history. Bringing in Brissett and aiming for Jackson's return offers the franchise a clear plan as they try to turn their season around.
