Jackson sidelined again
The Baltimore Ravens have ruled out starting quarterback Lamar Jackson for Sunday's match against the Cincinnati Bengals. The two time NFL Most Valuable Player continues to deal with a high ankle sprain, making this the third straight game he will miss.
Jackson was downgraded on Saturday after being listed as questionable. He was limited in practice all week and limped during his Friday media session. He injured his left ankle on Oct. 4 in a win against the Tennessee Titans. Jackson said running and planting his foot hurts, adding that playing like a statue would not help his team.
Huntley steps in for Baltimore
Tyler Snoop Huntley will replace Jackson as the starting quarterback. Huntley has a 6-8 record as a fill in starter for Baltimore. Earlier this month, he guided the team to a 30-23 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons before struggling in a 13-10 defeat to the Cleveland Browns.
The Ravens offense has lacked consistency without Jackson. In 14 quarters with Jackson this season, Baltimore scored 116 points and 14 touchdowns. In 10 quarters with Huntley, the team has managed only 40 points and four touchdowns.
Baltimore is 4-2 while Cincinnati is 3-2. The Ravens want to avoid falling to 0-2 in division play for the first time in 19 years. Since 2019, Baltimore is 0-3 against the Bengals without Jackson starting.
Jackson avoids rushing back
This is the second consecutive season Jackson has missed multiple games with an injury. Last year, he missed three straight games with a hamstring injury and regretted rushing back too quickly.
Jackson said rushing back last season was dumb because he was still hurting and unable to play to his full capability.
