A Fast Century in Madrid
Kylian Mbappé scored two goals in last Sunday's Clásico victory against Barcelona to reach 100 goals for Real Madrid. The 27 year old forward needed only 116 matches to hit the landmark.
He is now the 23rd highest goalscorer in the history of the club. Within the current squad, Vinícius Júnior leads with 128 goals, which places him 13th on the all time list. Mbappé is second in the squad, followed by Rodrygo with 71 goals and Jude Bellingham with 49.
Chasing Club Legends
Mbappé is the fifth fastest player to reach 100 goals for Real Madrid. He reached the century faster than Hugo Sánchez, who took 142 games, and Ronaldo Nazário, who needed 163 matches.
Only four players in club history reached 100 goals faster than Mbappé. Ferenc Puskás did it in 100 games, Cristiano Ronaldo in 106, Pahíño in 111, and Alfredo Di Stéfano in 114. Ronaldo remains the top scorer in Real Madrid history, having scored 451 goals in 438 matches before leaving for Juventus.
Team Focus and Ballon d'Or
After the Clásico, Mbappé told Real Madrid TV that he was happy to score, but added that the most important thing is the victory and success as a group. He said, "With the players here, anyone who says the quality isn't here is a liar." He insisted that the team must work together to achieve their goals.
On Monday, Mbappé finished second in the Ballon d'Or voting behind Harry Kane, while Lamine Yamal finished third. Although Mbappé was the top scorer in LaLiga in both of his full seasons at the club, he has not yet won a major trophy with Real Madrid.
Impressive Career Numbers
This season, Mbappé has kept up a strong pace with 14 goals in 13 appearances for Real Madrid. He moved to Spain on a free transfer in June 2024.
His scoring record before joining Madrid includes 256 goals in 308 games for Paris Saint Germain and 27 goals in 60 appearances for Monaco. He is also the top scorer in France national team history, and the top scorer in men's tournament history after scoring 10 goals at the FIFA World Cup in the summer.
