Gordon back on the active roster

Chicago Bears nickel corner Kyler Gordon has finally been activated off the physically unable to perform list and placed onto the 53-man roster. The team made the announcement on a Saturday, giving fans a big boost.

Gordon spent the entire offseason recovering from a calf injury that kept him sidelined since the start of training camp. He moved to the reserve PUP list on August 30 and missed the first four games of the season.

Recovery and coach reaction

Gordon returned to practice on September 30 and participated fully in every session over the past three weeks. Coach Ben Johnson spoke about the defender on Friday.

He stated that Gordon has done a great job taking everything assigned to him so far. Coach Johnson added that he feels good about Gordon contributing to the team soon.

Roster changes and past injuries

To make room on the roster, the Bears placed defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo on injured reserve. Odeyingbo suffered a quad injury against the Green Bay Packers and will miss some time.

Gordon missed large parts of last season due to soft tissue injuries and multiple stints on injured reserve. The Bears signed him to a lucrative extension in April 2025.
