Coach admits mistakes in tight loss

Las Vegas Raiders coach Klint Kubiak took full responsibility after his team suffered a tight 30-27 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs. The first time head coach saw two of his major decisions backfire during the AFC West matchup.

The first big moment came in the third quarter with the Raiders leading 13-10. Kicker Matt Gay had just made a 41 yard field goal, but a penalty on the Chiefs turned a fourth and 7 into a fourth and 2. Kubiak decided to take the points off the board and go for the first down.

The gamble failed when quarterback Kirk Cousins had his pass to running back Ashton Jeanty broken up by Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill. Kubiak later admitted that he took three points off the board. "Total missed opportunity. So I blew it," Kubiak said after the game.

Late game drama and player support

The drama continued into the final moments of the match. Trailing 30-27 after a late touchdown catch by Brock Bowers, the Raiders had one last chance. However, Kubiak struggled to get the final play call in quickly enough.

The rushed play led to an illegal shift penalty and ended with Cousins throwing an interception to Chiefs safety Xavier Nwankpa. Cousins noted that taking a delay of game penalty to get organized might have been a better choice.

Despite the tough loss, the Raiders players defended their coach. Wide receiver Tre Tucker said the aggressive style is their mentality and they will not change. Defensive end Maxx Crosby also backed his coach, stating that the team believes in Kubiak "100 million percent" when he makes those tough calls.
