Early Exit Against Nets
Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel made his season debut on Wednesday night against the Brooklyn Nets, but his night came to a very quick end. The second year player lasted less than six minutes on the court before being forced to head to the locker room.
By halftime, the Hornets officially ruled him out for the rest of the contest. The team stated that Knueppel was dealing with soreness in his left leg.
Sequence of the Injury
The trouble began with 6:12 remaining in the first quarter against Brooklyn. Knueppel was dribbling the ball up the court when he appeared to have an issue with his left leg.
After losing the ball out of bounds, the guard grimaced and looked to be favoring that same leg. He could not continue playing and had to leave the game.
Knueppel had been working his way back from a left hamstring injury that he first suffered during offseason on court activity. That injury kept him out of action for the entire preseason, as well as the first eight games of the regular season.
Building Block for Charlotte
Knueppel proved his value to the franchise during his rookie year, establishing himself as a building block for Charlotte. He led the entire league in 3 pointers during his debut season and finished second in the voting for NBA rookie of the year behind Cooper Flagg.
His return to the court came just one game after guard Coby White made his season debut for Charlotte. White had also been sidelined recently due to an offseason calf injury. Now, the Hornets will have to wait for further updates on Knueppel as he deals with this latest leg issue.
