Roster Decisions Before Opening Night
The New York Knicks are making final changes to the team. They are waiving Bruce Brown while keeping James Wiseman on the roster as the squad heads into its regular season opener.
Brown was one of several players on non-guaranteed deals who were fighting for one of the final two available roster spots in New York. Tony Bradley, Ochai Agbaji, and Drew Eubanks were also waived in recent days.
Why Wiseman Made the Cut
James Wiseman appeared in all four of the preseason games for the Knicks. He impressed in 24 minutes against the Toronto Raptors when he scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The franchise could have kept both players, but financial limits played a big role. The team is only $3.2 million below a self-imposed hard cap at the second apron, so keeping both players would have been difficult.
Frontcourt Plans for New York
Wiseman will join Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond in the center rotation for New York. The team lost key reserve big man Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics this past summer via free agency.
The Knicks kick off the NBA regular season by hosting the Philadelphia 76ers.
