Jacobs Returns to Practice

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will return to practice on Wednesday and has a chance to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions. He missed the first six games of the season while on the NFL commissioner exempt list.

Coach Matt LaFleur noted that Jacobs has been able to do everything except practice or play while on the list. He has been training, lifting with strength coaches, and attending meetings.

Boosting the Rushing Attack

Without Jacobs, the Packers have the worst rushing offense in the NFL through six games. Their average of 59.8 yards rushing per game is last in the league. The team has failed to reach 100 rushing yards in any game this season, though they have still managed to win four of six games.

LaFleur called Jacobs an elite-level back who can provide a spark. Jacobs was placed on the exempt list on August 30 after an incident in May. He pleaded no contest to battery and criminal destruction of property in September. The NFL is still investigating the matter, and additional games could be missed pending a final ruling.

Micah Parsons Sidelined

While Jacobs is closing in on a return, the comeback for pass rusher Micah Parsons will have to wait. LaFleur stated that Parsons will not practice this week. Given a Thursday game the following week, it might be a couple more weeks before he plays his first game since last year's ACL surgery.
