Breaking the Overtime Curse
Josh Allen finally secured his first career overtime win on Monday night. The Buffalo Bills defeated the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 in a tense matchup. Before this game, Allen held an 0-7 record in overtime, which included three playoff losses. He admitted he was crossing his fingers for a defensive play to extend the game.
That defensive play came from edge defender Greg Rousseau. Rousseau blocked a would-be game-winning field goal from the Rams, keeping the Bills alive and giving Allen the chance he needed.
Late Game Heroics
Allen turned things around in the second half and overtime. He finished the fourth quarter and extra period completing all five of his passes for 121 yards. He also added six rushes for 91 yards, a touchdown, and a successful two-point conversion.
Coach Joe Brady leaned heavily on the run game in overtime with receivers DJ Moore and Joshua Palmer missing. Allen contributed runs of 19 and 13 yards, bringing his game total to 121 rushing yards. Tyler Bass eventually sealed the victory with a 45-yard field goal.
