A Unique Partnership

An unusual team is bringing a special Buffalo story to the screen. Academy Award winning director Ben Proudfoot teamed up with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen for a new short documentary titled The Buffalo Miracle.

The film comes to HBO Max on November 24. Allen served as an executive producer through his production company, Out of Pocket Studios.

The Historic Storm

The documentary tells the true story of fast-food workers who sheltered strangers and neighbors during the severe Christmas week blizzard in 2022.

The region faced a once in a generation storm with hurricane force winds reaching 80 mph. Snowdrifts reached 15 feet high, and wind chills dropped to 30 below zero, leaving the area in whiteout conditions without power.

Community Spirit

The trailer for the film highlights the City of Good Neighbors nickname. It shows how the community unites through a shared love for the Bills during December playoff runs.

During the peak of the storm in 2022, Allen and the team were on the road for a game against the Chicago Bears. Allen finished that season with a 13 to 3 record.

Film Release Timing

Proudfoot brings serious award winning experience to the project, having won two Oscars for previous documentary shorts. His work includes The Queen of Basketball and The Last Repair Shop.

The documentary debuts the same week that Allen and the Bills play a primetime home game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
