Injury Blow for Stones and Inter

John Stones faced a tough night on his first start for Inter Milan. The defender limped off with a thigh injury early in the second half of his team's 5-3 win against Udinese. This injury makes him a major doubt for the upcoming top of the table clash against Roma on Saturday night.

It is also bad news for England manager Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel is preparing to name his squad on Friday for the upcoming four-match international break. Stones joined Inter in the summer after nine years with Manchester City and was a key player for Tuchel at the 2026 World Cup. Inter manager Cristian Chivu told DAZN Italy that Stones felt something in his flexor.

Inter Secure Big Comeback Win

Despite losing Stones, Inter Milan maintained their winning start in Serie A. They had to do it the hard way, fighting back from two goals down for the second time this season. They previously pulled off a similar comeback against Napoli earlier this month.

Udinese took an early lead. James Abankwah scored a header in the ninth minute, and Jurgen Ekkelencamp added a second goal in the 16th minute to put the visitors 2-0 up.

Inter responded quickly. Carlos Augusto scored just before the half-hour mark. Nicolo Barella then leveled the score at 2-2 with an angled shot in the 35th minute.

Second Half Goal Rush

The home side took control after the break. Marcus Thuram swept home a cross from Andy Diouf early in the second half to put Inter ahead. Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny added further goals to secure the victory for Chivu's team.

Udinese managed to pull one goal back late in the game. Idrissa Gueye scored a consolation goal for the visitors, but it was not enough to stop Inter from taking all three points.
