Exploring Madrid Before Sunday Match
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has spent his time exploring Madrid ahead of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. The Cincinnati star attracted a large media crowd on Friday and shared his plans outside of sports.
Burrow said he wants to visit more museums, go to an art gallery, and do some shopping if he gets the chance. He already visited the Museo del Prado earlier in the week during Cincinnati's first day off in Spain.
The team arrived from Cincinnati on Wednesday morning, giving Burrow time to look around. Even away from home, he was recognized by a group of students from the United States who are studying abroad.
Life Off The Field
Burrow admitted that being spotted caught him by surprise. He said it is often a little more than he expects when he is in a different country. He explained that he usually expects to go incognito and not have anybody recognize him.
However, Burrow added that he loves being in Spain because he can feel like a normal person for a little bit. His profile has grown well beyond the game in recent years, making quiet moments harder to find.
The Bengals enter the game with a 5-2 record, while the Falcons stand at 3-5. Both teams are preparing for their match at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, the home of Real Madrid.
Soccer Interests And Hobbies
The Bengals have been training roughly 20 miles northwest of downtown Madrid at the training grounds of the Spanish national teams. Their presence attracted top sports figures, including former Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois and ex Atletico Madrid star Koke.
Burrow spoke about his love for international soccer. He mentioned playing video games using Real Madrid and Barcelona teams.
Burrow and Cincinnati will be out of town by the time Barcelona visits Atletico on Sunday evening. Beyond soccer, Burrow keeps busy with several other hobbies. He said he plays a little piano, builds Legos, plays chess, and enjoys art and music, saying he certainly likes more things than just football.
