Wilson Staying Put in New York
Trade talk is building up across the NFL as the Nov. 10 deadline gets closer, but New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is not moving. Reports indicate there is no chance the team will trade the 26 year old receiver.
Other teams have shown interest in the star player. However, the Jets regard Wilson as a core piece for their future and plan to keep him on the roster.
Contract and Draft Capital
The Jets signed Wilson to a four year extension worth 130 million dollars just 15 months ago. That contract keeps him with the team through 2030. Team owners are also very fond of him and have no desire to send him away.
New York already has plenty of future draft picks after trading defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner last season. They hold the 2027 first round pick from the Indianapolis Colts, as well as the higher 2027 first round pick between Dallas and Green Bay. The management wants to build around Wilson rather than collect more picks, aiming to strengthen their offense in the 2027 draft.
Player Commitment and Market Context
Wilson himself recently made his stance clear to reporters. He said, "Yeah, I want to be here, man. I want to win games and that's the one thing we've been missing on here. I love it here. Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah, to be completely honest, but I'm hopeful."
Other wide receivers across the league could still move before the deadline. Names like Brian Thomas Jr. of Jacksonville, Josh Downs of Indianapolis, Jauan Jennings of Minnesota, Jerry Jeudy of Cleveland, and Calvin Ridley of Tennessee are being discussed around the league. Fans might remember how the Tennessee Titans traded Jeffery Simmons on Thursday for two first round picks and a fourth round pick after saying he was off limits, but Wilson remains off the table for the Jets.
