Injury Blow for Jets

The New York Jets will miss T'Vondre Sweat for at least the next four games. The starting nose tackle landed on injured reserve Saturday because of a knee sprain.

Sweat sustained the injury last Sunday. Fortunately, the issue is not considered season-ending. The 366-pound run stopper can return on November 29 against the Miami Dolphins.

Lineup Changes and Roster Moves

Sweat already received a ruling out for Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders at MetLife Stadium. Rookie Darrell Jackson Jr., a fourth-round pick from Florida State, should replace Sweat in the lineup.

The team also doubts rookie edge rusher David Bailey will play due to a groin injury. To cover these absences, the Jets promoted Payton Page and Quinton Bell from the practice squad.

Struggles Stopping the Run

The timing of this injury hurts a Jets defense already struggling against the run. They currently allow 127.7 yards per game, placing them 24th in the NFL.

Depth at defensive tackle is very thin right now. David Onyemata went to injured reserve in Week 3 following core muscle surgery.

Sweat's First Season in New York

The Jets acquired Sweat in an off-season trade with the Tennessee Titans. He missed part of training camp with a hamstring injury earlier this year.

Despite those early setbacks, he has played in all seven games so far. He records 17 total tackles, two tackles-for-loss, and zero sacks.
