Sideline Outburst Overblown

New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn addressed the media on Monday following the 28-25 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Commenting for the first time on a sideline outburst by star wide receiver Garrett Wilson during Sunday's game, Glenn said the incident was overblown by the media. Television broadcasts showed Wilson yelling on the bench during the fourth quarter. Broadcasters thought the argument was with quarterback Geno Smith, but Glenn explained that Wilson was actually speaking with passing game coordinator Seth Ryan.

Glenn stated that he already spoke with Wilson and plans to talk with him again. After the game, both Wilson and Smith mentioned that they had no personal issues. Wilson was targeted only three times in the match and admitted he was frustrated with the red zone playcalling. He finished the game wanting the ball in his hands to make an impact.

Defending the Offense

Despite the loss and criticism over Wilson's low target count, Glenn defended the offensive approach. He pointed out that the team set season highs for points scored and total yards with 377. The attack featured a 100-yard receiver in rookie Omar Cooper Jr and a 100-yard rusher in Braelon Allen.

Glenn noted that Miami specifically tried to take Wilson out of the game, which created opportunities for other players. He explained that the correct approach is throwing to an open receiver instead of forcing the ball into double coverage.

Looking Ahead to Next Week

The Jets sit at 2-5 after dropping two straight matches. Glenn has lost 19 of his 24 games as head coach and faces heavy criticism regarding clock management, particularly after failing to use timeouts at the end of the first half against Miami.

Despite the external pressure, safety Dane Belton insists the season remains promising. The Jets prepare to host the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday.
