Wednesday absence for rookie back

Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love did not practice Wednesday. He took time off to rest his ailing left ankle. Coach Mike LaFleur said the team will take Love's recovery one day at a time.

His status for Sunday's game against the Rams remains unclear. LaFleur noted that the team agreed rest is vital for the third overall pick to fully heal.

Tough running style complicates recovery

Love is known for his aggressive style and sharp cuts on the field. LaFleur pointed out that this physical approach makes it hard to prevent ankle injuries from lingering.

This current ankle issue started during the regular season and has stayed with him. A previous ankle injury in the preseason healed quickly, but this one has proven more stubborn.

Stats and impact this season

So far this season, Love has rushed for 245 yards and one touchdown on 67 carries. He averages 3.7 yards per carry and has added 36 receiving yards with another touchdown on 11 catches.

His best performance came in Week 3 against San Francisco with 89 rushing yards. Last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, he managed only 22 yards on 12 carries as the ankle issue affected his usual explosiveness.
