The Trade Rumors

A representative from Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown stated that a report claiming he demanded a trade or presented the Boston Celtics with a list of demands is completely false. The Celtics traded Brown, the number three pick in the 2016 draft, to the Sixers this offseason for Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round selections.

Former player and analyst Brian Scalabrine previously claimed on Monday that Brown requested a trade from Boston and had a list of demands. Scalabrine later walked back his comments ahead of the Celtics game against the Bulls, admitting that Brown did not technically demand to be traded. According to Brown's representative, the only request Brown made while in Boston was that both he and Jayson Tatum were treated equally.

Ties With Jayson Tatum

Over the last week, the relationship between Brown and Tatum has made headlines. The discussion started when Brown posted a blue hat emoji, which is slang for lying, on Instagram. This was a response to Tatum saying on his YouTube channel that he was caught off guard by Brown's trade.

Tatum later stated there is no beef between them and that drama simply gets clicks. Brown also insisted there was no beef, though he added a remark about lamb chops and gravy and mentioned Tatum has a good public relations team. Brown and Tatum played together in Boston for nine seasons, guiding the team to five Eastern Conference finals, two NBA Finals appearances, and a championship win over the Dallas Mavericks in 2024.
