Daniels Guides Commanders Comeback
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels led his team to a 27-10 win over the Philadelphia Eagles at Northwest Stadium. Washington fell behind 10-0 in the first half before scoring 27 unanswered points to secure the victory.
Daniels completed 16 of 29 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown. He also added 23 rushing yards. The win brings Washington to a 2-4-1 record, keeping them two games behind the first place Giants in the NFC East.
Leadership Changes the Game
The game started poorly for Washington. In their first three series, the team recorded four penalties, missed a 55 yard field goal, went three and out once, and lost a fumble.
Following the turnover, Daniels called the offense together on the sideline. Daniels said it was complete BS how they started and that it was not their style of football. The speech worked, as Washington quickly scored on three of their next four series, including an eight yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs to lead 13-10 at halftime.
Overcoming Past Struggles
For Daniels, the win ended a difficult personal stretch. He was 0-7-1 in his previous eight starts, a run affected by a dislocated elbow and a hamstring injury. He missed games both last year and earlier this season.
Despite taking a hard hit late in the first half, Daniels stayed in the game. He completed five of eight passes for 121 yards in the second half, including long passes of 53 and 30 yards. Coach Dan Quinn praised his toughness and poise under pressure.
Teammates Praise Quarterback
Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota noted that Daniels found his voice at the right moment, helping everyone feel the urgency to play better. Running back Austin Ekeler added that it was great to get a win for the entire team.
Daniels has thrown six touchdown passes with zero interceptions this season, alongside two rushing touchdowns. Washington now looks ahead with momentum after fighting back against their division rival.
