A memorable postgame meeting
Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels left the field with a prized keepsake after his team lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Teammates urged Daniels all week to ask Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for his jersey after the game. Brett Rypien told Daniels that he would ask for him if Daniels failed to do it.
Rodgers led Pittsburgh to a 26-19 come-from-behind overtime victory over the host Bucs. Daniels finally summoned the courage to make the request, and Rodgers greeted him with a long embrace. Rodgers told Daniels that he already knew what he wanted, and agreed to swap jerseys right away.
Mutual respect between quarterbacks
Daniels prepared to walk away when Rodgers surprised him with a request of his own. Rodgers asked if he could have Daniels' jersey too. Rodgers later mentioned on a broadcast that he respects the young quarterback and likes the way he throws and runs.
Daniels grew up watching Rodgers and tried to copy his ability to throw from different angles and escape the pocket. Hearing praise from a future Hall of Famer left a big impression on the young rookie. Daniels started the game because regular starter Baker Mayfield suffered a thumb injury in Week 3.
