Stadium plans and overseas games

Jacksonville Jaguars team president Mark Lamping has addressed plans for the team during their stadium rebuild. Speaking on Saturday in London, Lamping stated that the team is unlikely to play three international home games in 2027 while EverBank Stadium undergoes renovations.

The team has an agreement with the city of Jacksonville regarding the $1.4 billion renovation project. This agreement allows up to three international home games in 2027. However, Lamping called that option remote. He explained that the clause was included when the team did not know if they would play in Gainesville or Orlando.

All other home games in 2027 will take place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Construction work is expected to finish in time for the 2028 season.

London schedule and venue history

Lamping added that the team wants to play every 2028 home game in Jacksonville. However, that decision depends on the league. NFL teams must give up one home game every four years to play abroad. That schedule could change if the NFL moves to an 18 game schedule in the future.

The Jaguars have a long history in England, playing 15 London games since 2013, missing only 2020 because of the pandemic. They have played 11 times at Wembley Stadium and four times at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In 2022, the team signed a three year contract with the league to run Wembley home games, expecting ticket revenues to be 40% higher than at EverBank Stadium.

This season includes two London games. They earned a 19-17 victory over Philadelphia at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday and prepare for a Sunday match against Houston at Wembley Stadium.
