A Tough Blow for Jacksonville
The Jacksonville Jaguars might be without nose tackle DaVon Hamilton for the rest of the season. League sources indicate he suffered a torn quadriceps muscle on Sunday.
The Injury at EverBank Stadium
Hamilton got hurt in the second quarter against the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium. After teammates gathered around him on the field, medical staff took him to the locker room on a cart. He is scheduled for more tests today.
His loss leaves a big gap in the lineup. Head coach Liam Coen and multiple players noted that Hamilton anchors the top-ranked run defense. He has recorded 16 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a half sack across seven games this season.
Coach Praises His Leadership
Head coach Liam Coen spoke highly of Hamilton after Sunday's win. There are not many better humans, better competitors, team guys, Coen said. He praised Hamilton's leadership in practice and his attitude after the injury.
When he is out there laying down and he is reassuring me, that is who he is, Coen added. He is reassuring me, and has a smile on his face, actually. He trusts God. He trusts himself. He trusts life. He is just one of those types of people. Tough to see that, obviously.
Hamilton is currently in the final season of a three-year contract extension that he signed in April 2023.
