Clutch performance in overtime
With starting quarterback Lamar Jackson out with a sprained left ankle, Tyler Huntley delivered a strong performance for the Baltimore Ravens. Huntley went a perfect 11-for-11 passing for 80 yards on the final two drives against the Atlanta Falcons. He tied the game in the final minute of regulation with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Devontez Walker. Running back Derrick Henry converted the 2-point conversion to force the extra period.
In overtime, Huntley converted two third downs with passes to Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers. He then pushed his way across the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown off a quarterback sneak to secure the 30-23 victory. That 14-play series was the longest overtime touchdown drive in the NFL in eight years. Coach Jesse Minter praised Huntley for staying cool and keeping his composure as the moments got bigger.
Turning the game around
Huntley did not look comfortable in the first half, completing 11 of 18 passes for 97 yards. He turned it around in the second half by connecting on 13 of his final 14 passes for 104 yards and two touchdown passes. Jackson watched from the sideline, clapping and yelling support to his teammate.
This victory pushed the Ravens to a 4-1 record for the first time in five years. Huntley has now won his third straight game as a fill-in starter. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman noted that it is hard to back up a player like Lamar Jackson, but Huntley handled the situation well.
