A Historic Parade and Weddings
The New York Knicks won their first NBA championship in half a century, stretching their season from October to mid-June. Since the franchise had never had a ticker-tape parade for its three previous titles, the city threw a raucous event in June. Fans arrived before sunrise, and attendance reached capacity three hours before the start.
Karl-Anthony Towns also attended to personal business during the break. Towns married Jordyn Woods in Malibu with a guest list that included his Knicks teammates, Michael B. Jordan, Justin Bieber, and Hailey Bieber.
TV Cameos and Award Shows
Jalen Brunson hosted the season opening of Saturday Night Live in September, joined on stage by Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart. Brunson also filmed a guest appearance for Law and Order SVU, while Anunoby is set to guest star in Elsbeth. Towns also made a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
At the ESPYS in New York City, the Knicks won Best Team. Brunson took home three awards for Best Male Athlete, Best NBA Player, and Best Championship Performance. Anunoby won Best Play for his final second tip-in during Game 4.
