The chat with Cole Palmer
João Pedro has explained how a strong friendship started with Cole Palmer after he made his move to Chelsea. When he arrived, he made sure to tell Palmer that he did not plan to take his place in the team. Instead, he wanted to help the squad.
That conversation created a bond that carries on both on and off the field. Players welcomed him with open arms, which made his adjustment to the club go very smoothly.
Success under Xabi Alonso
The Brazilian forward won Chelsea's Player of the Season award for 2025-26 after scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists in 50 appearances following his transfer from Brighton. This season, under manager Xabi Alonso, he has formed a strong attacking partnership with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers.
João Pedro points out that playing in a 3-4-2-1 formation helps his form. He feels very comfortable and credits the manager for giving him the confidence to perform well.
From Watford to London
The 25-year-old attacker had to work hard to reach this level in English football. After starting at Watford and moving to Brighton, he views staying at Watford after their relegation in 2022 as the decisive moment of his career.
Despite a strong start in London, he was left out of the Brazil World Cup squad by Carlo Ancelotti. Even so, he has started the current campaign strongly with five goals and three assists in six Premier League matches.
