Early Season Absences

The Charlotte Hornets will start their new campaign without guards Kon Knueppel and Coby White, along with veteran forward Grant Williams. They play their season opener away against the Brooklyn Nets.

Knueppel picked up a left hamstring injury during offseason workouts and missed all of the preseason. He led the league with 273 made 3-pointers last season as a rookie.

More Injury Trouble

White suffered a left calf strain during training camp on October 5. He missed the rest of the preseason as well. Williams also missed all four preseason games because of a right hamstring injury.

The team announced that all three players have now started doing individual work on the court again.

New Faces and Big Hopes

The Hornets are counting on Knueppel and White this year after trading LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the summer. Knueppel averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and shot 42.5 percent from beyond the arc as a rookie.

Charlotte brought in White from the Chicago Bulls back in February. He finished the season strongly, scoring 19 points and hitting a key 3-pointer in the play-in win over the Miami Heat. He signed a new three-year contract over the summer.
