Heat Suffer Third Straight Loss

The Miami Heat fell to 0-3 on Saturday after losing 115-110 to the Charlotte Hornets.

This is the first time Miami has started a season 0-3 during Erik Spoelstra's 19 year tenure as head coach. Two time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, playing his first season with Miami, was limited to 14 points before fouling out with less than two minutes remaining.

Hornets Bounce Back Strongly

Charlotte came into the game without injured starters Kon Knueppel and Coby White. The team had also suffered a heavy 128-81 loss against Atlanta on Friday. However, they recovered well in front of a home crowd of 19,611 fans.

Brandon Miller led Charlotte with 34 points, while Dennis Schroder scored 25, Naz Reid added 23, and Grayson Allen contributed 20. Charlotte improved their three point shooting, hitting 16 of 43 attempts. A 24-7 run in the third quarter built a 92-70 lead for the hosts.

Late Rally Falls Short

Miami staged a late comeback without Antetokounmpo in full flow. Head coach Erik Spoelstra used a combination of Davion Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, Pelle Larsson, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bobby Portis Jr. to tie the game at 100, 102 and 104.

Davion Mitchell led Miami with 22 points, while Bam Adebayo scored 20, Pelle Larsson added 15 and Klay Thompson had 14.

With the score tied at 104 with 3:46 left, Grayson Allen hit an acrobatic three pointer at the end of the shot clock while being fouled by Tim Hardaway Jr. Allen completed the four point play to give Charlotte a 108-104 lead, and Miami could not catch up.
