A dream debut for Harbaugh
John Harbaugh enjoyed a perfect start to his time as New York Giants head coach. His team secured a 28-20 victory over rivals Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium. It was a proud moment for the veteran coach, who spent the previous 18 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.
Harbaugh was pleased to see his players buy into his physical style of football. The Giants dominated the ground game, outrushing Dallas by 165 yards to 69. They also showed great discipline by running out the final 5:16 of the game to seal the win.
After the game, Giants owner John Mara presented Harbaugh with the game ball to celebrate his first victory. Harbaugh celebrated in the locker room with his players and his parents. When asked where this win ranked among his 205 career victories, Harbaugh said it was number one because it is the one right now.
Players embrace the new identity
The players have quickly adapted to Harbaugh's methods. Running back Cam Skattebo, who led the team with 81 rushing yards, said the coach wanted to punish the other team, run the ball, and throw play action passes. Skattebo noted that the plan worked perfectly because the team trusted the execution.
Quarterback Jaxson Dart also praised the new head coach. Dart said the team has massive respect for Harbaugh and will do whatever he says. He added that the identity of the team starts at the top with how the coach has built a tough squad.
This victory is a major boost for the Giants. It is only the second time in the last 10 seasons that they have started the year with a win. It also ends a poor run against Dallas, who had beaten the Giants in 16 of their last 18 meetings.
