Harsh Words From Lake

Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin Lake did not hold back when discussing Justin Herbert on the St. Brown Podcast, which is hosted by Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and his brother Equanimeous St. Brown.

Speaking on the episode published Wednesday, Lake laughed about facing the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback in Week 8. He said that Herbert was throwing deli meat out there and seeing ghosts on the field. Lake added that the Rams defense knew they were going to get at least one interception in the game.

Lake was right about taking the ball away. Herbert threw two interceptions against the Rams, including one to Lake himself, as the Rams defeated the Chargers 24-9.

Harbaugh Stands By His Quarterback

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about Lake's comments on Wednesday afternoon. He quickly dismissed the critic's assessment of his starting quarterback.

Harbaugh said that everybody is entitled to their opinion, but it is not what he sees. The coach added that he thought Herbert did his job exceptionally well against the Rams, even though he conceded there were two throws the quarterback would have liked to have back.

Herbert was also asked about the podcast comments. He explained that he had not looked into the situation and had not heard anything about it, so he could not make a comment.

Tough Season For Los Angeles

The Chargers are going through a difficult period this year. The team fell to 0-7 on the season after the loss to the Rams and failed to score a touchdown for the second straight game.

Herbert has struggled throughout this run. The former Offensive Rookie of the Year and two time Pro Bowler leads the NFL with 10 interceptions across those seven games. He is also ranked last in the league with a QBR of 32.6.

Offense Continues To Struggle

The offensive struggles come under coordinator Mike McDaniel, who joined the Chargers after being fired by the Miami Dolphins. Despite the poor performances, Harbaugh has continually stood by his offensive coordinator.

The statistics show the team's ongoing troubles. The Chargers are currently ranked last in the NFL with an average of 14.1 points per game. They also sit second to last in the league with 2,018 total yards.
