A Special Return to Iowa State
Tyrese Haliburton made sure his alma mater was ready for a big night. The Indiana Pacers are playing their first preseason game at Iowa State on Wednesday. Haliburton purchased tickets for the student section so local fans could attend the matchup. The university ran a lottery system to distribute the seats to students.
Haliburton spent two successful years playing for Iowa State from 2018 to 2020 before entering the NBA draft. His connection to the school runs deep because he met his wife, Jade, during his college days and even proposed to her on the basketball court. He mentioned that he suggested hosting a game there years ago.
Back on the Court After Injury
Wednesday brings an even bigger milestone for the star guard. It will be the first game Haliburton has played in more than 16 months. He suffered a torn Achilles during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals and spent a long time recovering.
Haliburton told reporters after practice on Tuesday that he is unsure how many minutes he will handle. He hopes to play at least through the first half. Pacers coach Rick Carlisle noted that the team originally planned this preseason trip for 2025, but they delayed it after the injury.
