Blow for Packers as Reed sidelined
The Green Bay Packers are facing a tough situation with their offensive lineup. Wide receiver Jayden Reed is being placed on injured reserve by the team. This decision comes after the receiver suffered a neck injury during the Week 2 game against the New York Jets.
The 26 years old player is now out indefinitely. There is a real possibility that he could miss the rest of the season as he continues his recovery process.
Reed reacted to the news on Wednesday by posting a message on Instagram. He shared his thoughts with his followers, writing, "God will use the unusual to do the unexpected... 11 out." His absence leaves a massive void in the passing game.
Reed's contract and career stats
This injury is a massive blow to the Packers offense, especially considering his status on the team. Reed had recently committed his long term future to the franchise. In April, he signed a three year contract extension worth 50.25 million dollars.
Before the injury sidelined him, Reed played in two games this season. During those appearances, he managed to record four receptions for 24 yards.
The Packers originally brought Reed into the team as a second round pick in the 2023 draft. He has been highly productive since his arrival in Green Bay. Over his career, he has accumulated 142 catches for 1,881 yards and has scored 18 total touchdowns. The coaching staff will now have to find a way to replace his production on the field.
