A special gift for his biggest supporter

Golden State Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg has fulfilled a personal dream by buying his mother a new home in California.

The 24 year old posted a YouTube video titled "This one's for Mama Yax" on Friday. In the video, family and friends gathered outside the house before Lendeborg handed his mother, Yissel Raposo, a box with the key inside. The move helps her relocate from New Jersey, where Lendeborg grew up.

Lendeborg said it took two to three months to get the house ready. He wrote on X that a lifelong goal was accomplished, adding that his mother deserved everything for the love and sacrifice she gave him.

How his mother turned his career around

The special moment comes after a long path to the NBA. Back in 2019 during his senior year of high school, Lendeborg needed to take 10 courses at a community college in one year to graduate.

He revealed in a past article that his mother told him there was no more time to mess around. Seeing her face changed his mind, and he credited her with saving his life.

Lendeborg went on to play three seasons at Arizona Western before moving to UAB for two years. In 2025, he transferred to Michigan as a graduate student. He averaged 15.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game to help lead Michigan to a national title.

Making an impression in the NBA

The Golden State Warriors selected Lendeborg with the number 11 pick in the draft. During draft night, he recalled his mother telling him that they had finally accomplished their goal together.

Lendeborg has started his NBA career well through nine games. He is currently averaging 21 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for Golden State. That run includes a strong 37 point performance on Nov. 1.

For Lendeborg, success on the court is tied directly to caring for his family. He explained that his success is bigger than basketball and expressed joy in sharing his blessings with the people who believed in him.
